Probably not worth a full entry but I had a hard time finding a solution to this bug.

Problem: While using PowerPoint, text entry into a text box crashed the program. And crashed it every time and as soon as a single letter is typed. Very problematic.

Turns out it's a Bootcamp 3.1 issue so if you're not dual-booting on Apple hardware, probably not an issue.

Solution:

1. Go to Control Panel
2. Select "Change keyboards or other input methods" under "Clock, Language, & Region" heading
3. Select "Change keyboards..."
4. Select "Add" button
5. Scroll to "English (United States)" then "Keyboard", then "US"
6. Select "US"
7. "Okay" your way back.
