There are few things I don't enjoy about being a dad. I even enjoy changing diapers on some weird level. But there is one downside. The inevitable transmission of bugs from baby to dad. Babies are very good at locating and internalizing bugs. From licking the bottom of shoes to putting random small things on the ground in their mouths, they attract germs exactly like bleach doesn't. I try not to linger on how this stuff gets into my system. Although given the amount of bodily expulsions my daughter had last week around our apartment, it's not hard to imagine.
So as I lie here pensively awaiting the next bathroom emergency, I try to focus on all the good things about being a dad. I try really hard.
