It occurred to me that there must be zillions of hyperlinks to web pages that use only the text "here". As in "Go here to read this article on the Tour de France". Since most search engines take into account the text used in the hyperlink it got me wondering which web page was viewed by Google as the best result for 'here'. Turns out it's the Adobe Reader download page.

[update] It's now Mapquest.

Google search for the word 'here'.

funny that this particular usability (and SEO) tidbit hasn't trickled down yet. the only reason i can imagine why is because people don't want to take the time to figure out good hyperlink text. it's easier to use the active 'click here'...reminds me of Cory Doctorow's craphound article, in particular his assertion that people are lazy.
