A video created from the photographs of the MESSENGER (MErcury Surface, Space ENvironment, GEochemistry and Ranging) spacecraft (heading to Mercury). The film was made from photos shot over a 24 hour period. It almost doesn't look real. I'm also struck by how lonely the planet looks towards the end - small and engulfed in black. Amazing. More here. The spacecraft will make two swings by Venus and 3 past Mercury before being inserted into orbit. I presume they can make some additional movies from those flybys.
