Some reports that the Navier-Stokes equations have been solved. I need to look through the paper when I get a chance. On first blush it seems to be the incompressible fluid version of the NS equation. I'm not sure if any other limitations have been placed on the solution. The NS equations describe fluid flow. Typically discretization has to be incorporated into a computer model to approximate results due to it's nonlinearity or perturbation theory applied to limiting cases. My PhD work looked at a particular simplification case of NS.
The solution may not be that impactful in everyday life because there are ways to approximate solutions. But perfect solutions usually do increase understanding.
